The path from ABS plastic to a chrome finish.

Plastic does not conduct electricity, so it has to be made conductive before it can be plated. Select a step, click a tank, or drag to look around the line.

IN-HOUSE MOULDING

Finished parts, not just plated ones.

On request we also injection-mould the parts to be plated. Five machines, including brands such as Arburg and KraussMaffei, produce the substrate in-house, so customers receive a finished part and scrap from handling between suppliers is avoided.

Every batch is tested in our laboratory for coating thickness, Cross-cut adhesion and CASS-SST before it is released to the customer’s production line.

EU PROJECT · SAMDOKAN

Chrome-free pre-treatment

Our EU-funded SAMDOKAN project is nearing completion. It will allow ABS, ABS-PC, polyamide and polypropylene to be plated on the same line using pre-treatment chemistry that contains no chromic acid.

DESIGN FOR PLATING

What to watch when moulding parts for plating

If you mould the parts yourself, these four points decide whether the coating will hold.

01
Dry the granulesDry at 80–100 °C for at least 2 hours before moulding; moisture causes splay and gas marks.
02
No silicone release agentSilicone on the mould surface spoils coating adhesion.
03
Handle parts with glovesOil and sweat from bare hands harm the coating, so keep skin off moulded parts.
04
Choose plating-grade ABSCoating quality depends on the raw material. Ask us which grade to use.

Send us your drawing. We’ll tell you how to plate it.
